Fourier Series Methods

Gravity is a wave; that much is accepted by all scientists. This short paper shows how gravity, as a wave, acts as a perturbing force to cause the elliptical shape of the orbits of planets around our sun. That is, as the constructive interference between sinusoidal waves. Historically, the body of theory using this kind of method to approximating gravity - using Fourier Series - was common in the late 1800's. Then Poincare "proved" that Fourier Series solutions were unstable, and the whole body of theory has since literally vanished from the scientific corpus of Celestial Mechanics. Going back to these basic roots, a new coordinate system is derived in which only five (versus six) variables are required to fully describe an elliptical orbit. These are further reduced in the Planar 4BP, at which point the number of unknowns is the same as for the Three Body Problem. Thus, it will be possible to solve the 4BP to the extent we have solved the 3BP, and perhaps to find a closed solution to the unrestricted 3BP itself.

You can read the complete paper here.
